About
Chimène
de Jonge
Journalist, documentary maker, and presenter.
Background
I’m a 25-year-old journalist, documentary maker, and presenter based in the Netherlands, with a background in investigative and cross-border journalism. My work combines written journalism, documentary filmmaking and on- and off-camera presenting. I’m drawn to stories that go beyond the headlines, stories that require curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to look closer. I trained as a journalist, specialising in Cross-Border Journalism, and have further developed my skills through courses in crime journalism, presenting, and autobiographical writing. This diverse background allows me to approach stories from different angles and translate in-depth research into compelling written and audiovisual journalism.
On screen
Presenter & Host
As a presenter and host, I work across television, radio, online platforms, and live events, both on and off camera. Alongside presenting and interviewing, I take on roles as a moderator and event host, guiding conversations, engaging audiences, and creating a clear and confident flow for every format. I work in both Dutch and English, adapting my style and approach to different audiences, subjects, and settings.
Film
Documentaire maker
My documentaries start with journalistic curiosity, but go beyond the article. With an eye for visual storytelling, rhythm, and human perspective, I create films that stay with the audience. For my debut documentary, Leaving Hotel California, I worked as co-director and co-producer and was involved throughout the entire process, from the initial research and development to the final edit. I conducted the research, all interviews, operated the camera, recorded the sound, and edited the film myself. This hands-on approach allowed me to shape the story at every stage, combining my background in investigative journalism with my passion for documentary filmmaking.
Writing & Research
Journalist
As a freelance journalist, I work across written and audiovisual journalism, creating investigative stories, long-form features, interviews, and documentary content for national and international media. My work covers a wide range of subjects and formats. From deeply personal family stories tracing ancestors through the Second World War to reporting from Paris Fashion Week. Whether exploring history, culture, or current affairs, I combine thorough research with a strong narrative approach to create stories that are engaging, insightful, and visually compelling. I work in both Dutch and English.
Vision
Stories are more than words. Behind every story are people, their lives, their emotions, and their voices.
